Mounting the Horse

Trent, moving steadily, mounts the horse. At this point, the average horse furiously rebels and may buck and rear. The key is remaining calm and firm with the horse. Again, Trent urges the horse to move forward. This makes the horse concentrate on something other than Trent being on his back. Eventually, the horse relaxes and moves more calmly around the ring.
Now, the horse has accepted a rider. However, the training is not over, even though the horse is now accustomed to a saddle, bridle and rider. Training is never fully completed, but continues throughout the horse's life. Now that Trent has taught the horse the fundamentals, a rider can take the horse to the next level- jumping, barrel racing, reining, saddleseat or just pleasure riding.
