in order to attend.
This activity is intended to help cadets earn their Model Rocketry Badge.
We want to teach cadet leaders the skills to be able to teach rocketry in their squadron.
It is recommended that NCO's and officers attend for that purpose.
Future CRW's will need knowledgeable cadet leaders to serve on
staff. But ALL cadets are welcome (provided that
they have been in long enough to earn their Curry). Interested Cadets should notify their Squadron Commander or DCC.
Hand carry your signed CAP Form-31 and medication form but each squadron should email a roster ASAP to assist in planning. Please try to send it during the first full week of May to assist in planning. Space is limited and interest has been growing since last year. |
The primarily focus will be building 3 scrap paper rockets
and covering the written lessons to meet the requirements of the CAP Model Rocketry program.
There may be time on Sunday afternoon to construct a Fizzy Rocket & Goddard Rocket. That will be after the Sunday activities conclude and the other cadets are dismissed. So the only cadets who should plan to remain longer will be those who need to complete the non-solid fuel rockets. Please indicate so in advance. There is a lot to cover in the weekend so it really helps if the local squadron can complete the initial part of the Model Rocket Program during several meetings. Then we can focus on the solid fuel rockets that have been more difficult to complete locally. Please email results so plans can be made to cover that material, either hands-on or written lessons. We are willing to do what is needed to achieve the goal but will need to know. This year there will be an advanced activity for cadets who have already earned their achievement or have completed the hands on activities and only need to pass one or more of the written tests. They may choose to construct a two stage 'D' powered scrap paper rocket! Parents and friends are welcome to come at noon on Sunday. Bring your picnic lunch and watch the cadets launch their rockets on Sunday afternoon prior to returning home. |
|
| Follow the usual CTW packing list. So, bring BDU's, sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries (include bug repellant), jacket or sweater, under garments for 3 days, etc and your CAP ID card. | |
